A little backstory first: HomeGrown was founded back in 2023 by Bend local musician Scottie McClelland, and it started exactly the way the best things around here do — grassroots, built on a real love for this town’s music scene. This year’s was hosted by Bend’s own Spencer Marlyn Band — which Scottie plays in these days — and presented by Volcanic Theatre Pub, Central Oregon’s premiere music venue — which is how a homegrown idea ends up pulling top talent from across the region while still keeping the very best local bands, across just about every genre, right up front.
HomeGrown is becoming Bend’s premiere spring music event — the one that helps really kickstart the outdoor season — this year’s event was spread across multiple stages around The Century Center with a lineup that leans hard on regional and local talent. The genres ran the gamut so there was always options for everyone in a very short distance. I mean, 40 bands over 3 days was totally worth the cost of admission to support live music.
I love shooting multiday events like this because they match my vibe — there’s always some great live music, dancing, or smiles to capture.
